Ollama Expands Its Coding Model Ecosystem
Ollama has just rolled out new code-generation models — including GLM-4.6 and Qwen3-Coder-480B — along with deeper integrations for VS Code, Zed, and other developer tools. The smaller Qwen3-Coder-30B has also been optimized for speed and reliability, while power users with large GPUs can even run the 480B model locally.
A simplified Cloud API now allows direct HTTP access with an API key, making it easy to embed these models into custom workflows. The blog showcases real coding prompts that generate functional, single-page web apps — a glimpse of what’s now routine for AI-assisted development.
This update is about practical integration. Ollama’s hybrid (cloud + local) approach is steadily turning AI coding assistants into reliable co-developers: accelerating prototypes, automating boilerplate, and leaving humans to focus on design and logic.
The tools are maturing. The collaboration between developer intuition and model precision is where the next wave of software productivity will happen.
